Our guests know that by hiking you can discover Mallorca individually on your own and for that our Petit Hotel Alaró is an ideal base.
Hikers enjoy untouched natural landscapes, marvellous trails, high summits which offer incredible views, canyons surrounded by karst rocks, olive groves and oak forests.
You will find rare plants like ophrys (our orchids), wild goats, sheep and donkeys, observe birds, but only rarely will you meet other people.
The Serra de Tramuntana offers you a diversity of impressions in balance with nature. Magnificent views and breathtakingly beautiful paths make every trip a very special experience. Up in the mountains and on the clifftop coastal paths the natural beauty of Mallorca presents itself like nowhere else.
We are enthusiastic hikers too!
We would love to help you to organize trips by using our maps and books and our personal experience.
For four persons or more, it is possible to have daily excursions with a guide and a surprise picnic.
The Serra de Tramuntana crosses the north-west with 19 municipalities over a distance of 90 km. It possesses the highest summits on the island with Puig Major the highest at 1443m. Unique are not only the landscapes built by the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains but also the historical, cultural and ethnic characteristics.
In 2011, the Serra de Tramuntana was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the category of cultural landscapes, in recognition of the harmony between nature and the legacy of human activities: dry walls and unique water pipes, the magnificent landscape, formed by steep terraces, which are suitable for agriculture.
The GR221 trail leads from Sant Elm in the south up to Pollença in the north along well marked foot paths and it can be completed in several daily stages by a trained hiker.
