The Serra de Tramuntana crosses the north-west with 19 municipalities over a distance of 90 km. It possesses the highest summits on the island with Puig Major the highest at 1443m. It is not just the landscape built by the Mediterranean Sea and the Tramuntana Mountains that make the region unique, culture and ethnic characteristics also make The Serra de Tramuntana such a special place.
In 2011, the Serra de Tramuntana was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the category of cultural landscapes, in recognition of the harmony between nature and the legacy of human activities.
The GR221 trail leads from Sant Elm in the south up to Pollença in the north along well marked foot paths and it can be completed in several daily stages by a trained hiker.
We are enthusiastic hikers too! We would love to help you to organize trips by using our maps and books and our personal experience.
For four persons or more, it is possible to have daily excursions with a guide and a surprise picnic.
